Wake Games and Nationals Are Back in 2008

Winter Park, Fla. – The most prestigious and exciting professional wakeboarding series in the world, the King of Wake World Cup, is back for another thrilling year of highflying water-sports action in 2008. World Sports & Marketing, the organizing body for the series, announced today that the Air Nautique Wake Games and the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships will both be featured in the series for the 2008 season.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships will return to Lake Andrea at Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. Riders throughout the United States will have their shot at the national title Aug. 6-10, 2008.

"Wake Games and Nationals are two of the largest contests around, and we are very excited to continue to have them be a part of the King of Wake series," said Director of Sales Sean Dishman. "Fans and athletes alike enjoy these two events in particular because of the format and the various divisions competing in the contests."

Wake Games is a unique wakeboarding event that ties pros and amateurs together in a team concept. The top 10 riders in the King of Wake standings (already pre-selected as team captains) will each pick nine other riders to join their teams. They will choose two other pro riders, three amateurs, two wakeskaters and two women. Riders not only go for the win in their respective divisions, but they also contribute points to a team score. The team with the best score after the finals on Sunday will take home a cash prize.

Hosted by the World Wakeboard Association, the best riders in the United States will compete at the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championship to try to capture one of the top honors in wakeboarding, the U.S. National Championship. The results from the Nationals will also decide who will represent the United States in the 2008 World Championships.
